The 2011 Fishing Season has come to a close and we at BASStardFishing.com are proud to announce the title of "BASStard of the Year!" Well, he's done it again-"2009 BASStard of the Year", 3-time "BASStard of the Month", and the only member to never catch a fish at our annual bass tournament—Congratulations to Derek of Central Massachusetts! Derek has had a tremendous year of bass fishing, boasting several largemouths in the 5+ pound class. As winner of the 2011 title, Derek will receive a FREE HAT! Cheers to a great year, Derek. Welcome to the "BASStard of the Year" Hall of Fame and the best of luck in 2012!

With the close of the 2011 Fishing Season comes our final BASStard of the Month—Courtney from Massachusetts! Courtney caught and released this beautiful smallmouth bass while fishing a live worm in Vermont. Congratulations on your catch, and welcome to the BASStard Hall of Fame!

November 2011's BASStard Of The Month is Ben from Central Massachusetts. Ben had a great outing this past July 4th in Cape Cod, Massachusetts where he boated a solid stringer of bass including the three shown below. The fish were landed primarily on stick baits and jigs. Congrats Ben, and welcome to the BASStard Of The Month Hall Of Fame.

October 2011

October 2011's BASStard Of The Month is Steve from Central Massachusetts, who managed a feat sought by many anglers, yet achieved by very few. In the images below are two beautiful 3+ pound largemouth bass caught simultaneously on a crankbait using 8 pound test. This event marks the first ever BASStard Of The Month winner to enter the hall of fame by catching two fish on a single cast. Great catches Steve, and welcome to the hall of fame.

September 2011

September 2011 brings us all the way to Illinois. Pictured below is Jim Jozwiak holding a beautiful 21" stream smallie he landed just a few weeks ago. Nice catch Jim, and welcome to the hall of fame!

August 2011

This August we are proud to introduce Dave Standen of Colorado as the BASStard of the Month!  Dave caught this 11 pound 11 oz largemouth bass at Harper Reservoir in Louisville, Colorado after it robbed his hook of a small trout, which he followed up with a worm on another rod to set the hook on her.  With an impressive length of 25.125” and girth of 23.25”, this largemouth could have been in contention for the Colorado State record which currently stands at 11 pounds 6 ounces, set in 1997 by Jarrett Edwards. After a 2 hour ride in a cooler, the fish was safely released to be caught another day. Congratulations, Dave on an amazing catch and welcome to the BASStard Hall of Fame!

July 2011

July 2011 brings us a familiar face, two time BASStard of the Month and our very first BASStard of the Year, Derek. Derek boated this pig fishing a 60' floating dock with a jig in 1.5' of water. The fish tipped the scales at 5 pounds 9 ounces, to view the full write up by Derek click here.

June 2011

June 2011's BASStard Of The Month comes to us from central Massachusetts, djod1985. Despite breaking two of his new rods, djod1985 put together a couple of nights of solid lip ripping with his brother, boating 14 bass between 2 1/2 and 4 pounds. Welcome to the hall of fame djod1985, and keep the lunkers coming!

May 2011

With May comes a new BASStard of the Month, one of our forum members: SterlingBassMan! On April 10th, 2011 he landed his first largemouth bass of the season on a green skirted hula grub with a super slow retrieve--this beautiful 6+ pounder! Welcome to the hall of fame SterlingBassMan, and enjoy your time on the top!

April 2011

April 2011 brings us Matt Shutta from Turners Falls, Massachusetts. Matt landed this beautiful Smallmouth Bass last summer fishing back water of the Connecticut River. He landed this beast flipping a black/ neon YUM Craw Papi texas rigged with a 1/4 oz weight. Nice catch Shutta, and welcome to the hall of fame!

March 2011

Our March “BASStard of the Month” winner is Tim Yiu from Delaware! Tim caught our attention with his April 2010 submission of a 50 inch striper. He has proven himself not only a saltwater angler but a bass angler as well! Tim caught this three pound pre-spawn largemouth on a 5” silver senko soon after ice-out. Congratulations once again Tim!

February 2011

February brings us one dedicated BASStard who always takes fishing to the limits. Casey of Kempton, Pennsylvania managed to catch this beautiful striped bass in the Hudson River in Troy, NY last May. The fish was safely released before any official measurements were taken. Welcome to the BASStard Hall of Fame, Casey. We have a feeling this is not the last we'll see of you!

January 2011

Here at BASStardFishing.com we are starting the year off with the youngest ever BASStard Of The Month, Colman "C-Money" Dyer. No official measurements on this pig, but it doesn't take a seasoned BASStard to know when he sees a lunker. Colman landed this slab on a shiner while ice fishing with "Kaptain Kidd" and the notorious "Tight Pants Wearing Bass Fishers." Read more on the BASStard Forum.
