Dead sticking with formally-live or artificial baits is quite effective on the ice due to the fish being lethargic/non active..especially the bigger ones..there are reasons for cutting off fins/tails or a good slap on the hard stuff before being thrown down the hole other than shiners getting spooked and setting off a false flag
