Not gunna lie, Champlain pissed me off. Up at like 6:30am, day starts of beautiful, we round the bend and all hell breaks loose. 3 ft swells, wind and spray crashing over the bow, soaking us. Had to turn into shore to start a fire and dry (not so bad) 10:30am or so we head back to the protected cove. Fish for a bit and get a couple 6" smallies. Try to turn the motor over and she won't. I spent a solid hour working on the damn thing while Regional and Crazy watch me or continue fishing. Ended up tearing all the skin off my fingers pullin that damn chord, had to row ALL the way back, and really had nothin to show for it except a headache, sore back, and skinless hands.
Oh, and Crazy caught a Pike on the same lure I was using... but my lure was in the boat while I was working on the motor.
If the motor wasn't out-of-whack I'd have no problem with the above events. The carborator needs to be tuned. It's running to rich, pulling too much fuel and usually floods out. This means I try to lean it out with my trusty screwdriver after removing the housing, remove the sparkplug and dry it out, then try it again. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Get Blisters. Repeat. Lose Skin. Repeat. Paddle back....
- Twas on the Fifth day that the fish and fowl were created.
- On the Sixth day He made man in His image and let him have dominion over the fish of the sea, and the fowl of the air.
- On the Seventh day the Lord rested, and I picked up my rod and gun.
