BASStard Of The Month Archive
February 2010
February 2010 has brought New England painfully plunging temperatures which have condemned most BASStards to hanging up their gear for the season and waiting until spring. One of our most dedicated BASStard Forum members, "International" has soldiered on however. Outfitted with his new ice fishing gear International has braved the the elements and come out a winner. At the end of a largely unsuccessful day on on the ice, he decided to put down the jigging rod and just sit back and watch his tip ups. This seemed to have done the trick as the fishing gods smiled upon "International" and hooked him up with this beautiful 4.5 pound smallmouth bass. For the full story narrated by International himself Click Here.

Congratulations to our first BASStard Of The Month for 2010, Meghan from Western Massachusetts. Meghan recently took a fishing charter in the Bahamas in search of Barracuda, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, and Grouper and landed herself a solid Barracuda (shown below). Meghan hooked this beauty trolling live bait from the 30 foot charter boat and was surprised that the Barracuda didn't have the fight that you would expect from such an intimidating fish. Great catch Meghan, and welcome to the Hall Of Fame! Congratulations and we at BASStard Fishing wish you and all BASStards alike a happy new year.

2009 BASStard Of The Year
BASStard
Fishing.com has now been around for about a year, and that means we
have had one full year of members added to our "BASStard Of The Month"
hall of fame and it is now time to announce the first ever "BASStard Of
The Year!"
And the winner is..... Derek J. of Central
Massachusetts. Derek won "BASStard Of The Month" back in August with
this 23.25 inch 7.44 pound lunker. Derek landed this beauty on a 6 inch
crank fished on light tackle, a feat that takes a great measure of
angling savvy. Congratulations, Derek, on being the first ever
"BASStard Of The Year" and we wish you the best of luck in the 2010
season.

December 2009 brings us another one of our forum members, "regularschmoe," with his monster trout, which he landed way back in 1992 in the Shadowcliffs Lakes located in California. This trophy weighed in at 10 pounds 1/4 ounces, the image quality isn't great, but you can still see the sheer size of the beast. Congrats regularschmoe, we look forward to hearing more from you on the forum, and enjoy your month on top!

November 2009 brings us "Kaptain Kidd," from Central Massachusetts, one of our very first forum members. KK, as we call him on the forum landed this 22" long 15" girth brick on a Swamp Donkey fishing it across some heavy lily pad cover, it was his only catch of the day, but who could really complain. Nice catch KK and welcome to the BASStard of the Month hall of fame!

October 2009
Well, its early October 2009 and the weather is cooling down, but the BASStards just keep coming! This months BASStard Of The Month, Zack C. landed a monster Mako shark 60 miles off the shore of Massachusetts last month. The shark weighed in just shy of 200 pounds and was caught trolling artificial squid bars with herring bait in the stinger squid. Nice catch Zack! and welcome to the hall of fame.

September 2009
September 2009 brings us far up north to Lynn Chmelnitsky in Ontario Canada, where she landed this beautiful 18" largemouth off a dock on the shoreline of Silver Lake. Lynn landed this monster on a buckshot and worm rig in a spot where she and her family have had some close calls with some lunker bass, one of which snapped her sons pole in half! Nice catch Lynn! and welcome to the BASStard Of The Month hall of fame!
As a sidenote, Lynn also mentioned the fact that she outfishes her husband ;).

August 2009
I am proud to announce
Derek J.
of central Massachusetts as August 2009's BASStard Of The Month. Derek
was out fishing for a few hours a couple of weeks ago with his
girlfriend, throwing a 6 inch crank on light tackle when he hooked onto
this 23.25 inch 7.44 pound monster. An epic battle ensued as this slab
dove for heavy weed cover, but in the end Derek was triumphant and
boated the sucker despite his use of light tackle. Nice catch! and
welcome, Derek, to the BASStard Hall of Fame!

owned body of water located in the Northern Kingdom of Vermont.
Reid’s

pond—a
record for the ages. Congratulations and welcome again to our BASStard
