Rapala Clackin' Rap Review
The New Rapala Clackin' Rap!
The New lure from Rapala, the “Clackin’ Rap” is a lipless crank bait, which is a new and improved version of the original “Rattlin’” Rapala. The Original design of the bait hasn’t changed as both versions still are lipless, and contain the single steel ball inside the bait, but the Clackin’ Rap has some modifications that make this bait truly special. The Clackin’ Rap differs from its predecessor in 2 ways. The External Rattle and Internal holographic foil. The External rattle chamber is a big improvement from the original steel ball inside of the bait. On the outside of the bait two metal discs take up space on the sides to transmit a distinctive Clackin’ sound with maximum vibration. The holographic foil produces a seductive flash which will grab the attention of fish from further distances. With both of these new additions the Clackin’ Rap is truly a “Go To Bait” anytime of the year. This bait is truly a Big Fish Lure.
Now first off this lure comes in two size baits with 17 different color choices to choose from. A 2.5 inch by 7/16oz and a larger 3- 1/8 inch 7/8 oz. The smaller sized lure comes with two number 6 treble hooks, while the larger with a number 4 and a number 3 size. The Bait is equipped with a SureSet hook in the front of the lure so the fish is more likely to stay on when it gobbles at this bait. With its traditional “Nose-Down Attitude” this lure is great in cover varying from, but not limited to: Grass, weeds, sticks, brush, and rocks. Granted no lure is “SnagProof” This bait is as good as a shot to that as any other lure. At a price of $9.49 this lure is not cheap but it will produce you many large fish.

Shortcomings
First and foremost, price. Spending $9.99 on a lure is a bit excessive in my opinion, however it will not deter me from purchasing the Clackin' Rap again in the future as it is the most effective lipless crankbait I have ever fished. Secondly we found the hooks on this lure to be a bit weak. For general fishing situations this will not be a problem, however I hooked a 40" Northern Pike on the Clackin' Rap 06 and after a long fight it bent the hooks straight.
Overall BASStard Rating
Price |

In the recent years Rapala has really started to up their prices in a big way. The Clackin' Rap will set you back about $10.00, but for this you get a quality lure that is sure to land you a considerable number of fish. |
Construction |

This is one solid lure. The only downsides to it is that it snags very easily and I once had a 40 inch Northern Pike bend the hooks straight on it. |
Performance |
10 |
I give this lure a 10 out of 10 in terms of performance without hesitation. I, and the crew at BASStardFishing.com have landed a considerable amount of solid fish on it year round and I assure you that you will to. |
