St. Croix Legend Tournament Bass Rod Review
St. Croix Legend Tournament Bass.
The St. Croix Legend Tournament Bass Rod is one of the highest quality rods that I have ever had the pleasure to fish with. This was the first rod that I bought when I got serious about bass fishing and my old "Ugly Stick". I have since caught hundreds of fish on this rod and can tell you first hand that this is a serious peice of machinery. I own the 6'3" spinning version and have for around 3
years. Due to my wreckless fishing nature I have shattered the bushing out of the top eye twice, but with the lifetime warranty that St. Croix offers with this rod I had a replacement part in days. No questions asked.
At first glance, the Legend Tournament Bass Rod has a very sleek, appealing look to it. The flawless metallic cobalt blue paint job gives off the energy of an exotic sports car, and yes, it drives like one as well. This rod is offered in 6'3", 6'6", 6'8", and 7' lengths, specialized for "Shakin'," "Split Shot," "Finesse," and "Tube" fishing. Owning the shortest of the three, I was instantly amazed at the amount of backbone this rod has. I use this rod mainly for my finesse fishing becuase of its light weight and amazing sensitivity. I tend to throw larger baits, such as jigs and spinner baits with my longer e21 Boyd Ducket Classic Gold Carrot Stix, and stick with my St. Croix for fishing Senkos, smaller soft plastics, and small crank baits.
The St. Croix Legend Tournament Bass Rod is constructed from a high quality SC Graphite blank, outfitted with Fuji line guides and reel seats. This SC Graphite blank creates the level of backbone and weightlessness that makes this rod a staple in my fishing arsenal. The backbone is crucial for solid hooksets and pulling any size fish out of heavy cover as long as your line is strong enough to handle it. I tend to fish this rod with 14lb Berkley Fireline (6lb Monofilament Diameter) which allows me to capitalize on the power that this rod offers.

This rod shows its true colors in cooler water situations when fall or even early winter fishing. Cold water situations are when we must slow down our presentations. Fishing suspending jerk baits with long pauses and dead sticking soft plastics allows an angler to slow down and depend on the strong sensitivity that St. Croix offers with this rod.
In conclusion, the St. Croix Legend Tournament Bass Fishing Rod offers a wide array of features in an attractive package. I personally use this rod for my finesse fishing applications, but don't get me wrong, this rod accels in all fishing styles and techniques. Most high end fishing rods nowadays come in a handful of lengths, specialized for certain techniques. When shopping for the St. Croix Legend Tournament rod, do not get too worried about investing in just one style of fishing, choose the one that accomodates your main style of fishing the best, and do not count it out when using other approaches. This rod is a true jack of all trades.

The St. Croix Legend Tournament Bass Rod will run you around $220.00 USD, which gets you truly an incredible bass fishing rod. I wouldn't suggest this for the casual angler, but for those avid lip rippers out there,go for it, and you won't be displeased. |

This is truly one of the most solidly constructed rods I have ever fished all the way down to the eyes. It looks good, it feels good, and will certainly withstand the test of time. |

In the field the Legend Tournament Bass Rod performed amazingly. Between Lucky BASStard and myself we have put this rod through the paces for about 5 years now and have never once been let down. |

Overall another great product from St. Croix, if you are a serious angler in the market for a new rod in the $200.00 range, wait until you hold one of these rods before buying anything else. |
